After graduating with a degree in Public Relations & Marketing from Miami University of Ohio, Joshua Smith began his career with the international consortia Virtuoso in Seattle, WA in 2007. Continuing his success, he placed focus on further developing the Tourism Board portfolio, acting as an integrated marketing consultant with over 40 governments. During this time, Joshua joined the board of the United States Tour Operators Association on the conference planning committee and was speaker at the 'Millennial Garage' discussing travel trends. He also joined the National Tour Association's Young Professionals Advisory Board.

Joshua left Travcoa in 2016 and launched a new boutique travel agency called Global Citizen Journeys, an affiliate of Coastline Travel Advisors. As a Virtuoso Travel Advisor, he focused on creating immersive travel experiences across the globe. He continued consulting with travel technology companies such as Dipp, a platform connecting travel companies and potential clients via social media intelligence; and entertainment productions, all in the effort to promote sustainable tourism on a global scale. In 2018, Joshua began a position with South African Tourism as the Trade Relations Manager for the West Coast and responsible for the promotion of the beautiful country of South Africa. Simultaneously, he began a Master of Sustainable Tourism degree with Arizona State University.
